ISP Suggestions?

4300996111Dropping off early today. The time isn’t accurate btw, don’t know why. It’s 10:00 a.m.

Showing a little over 2mb of my 8mb connection. Thought they were fixing this?

Suddenlink is just… wow

4300523311Take a look people. Now I’m pulling 8mb of my 8mb connection, with an incredible ping on top of it all. This is just insane! Come on Suddenlink. We know you’re busy merging in Cebridge’s old stuff, but this is just ridiculous!

It’s not bad enough that their techs don’t keep their appointments, but they can’t even maintain any sort of reliability! Suddenlink = Fail

Suddenlink continues to fail…

Speedtest on 14 MAR 09Unfortunately my internet service is once again, crappy. It seems that no matter what I do, I can’t get Suddenlink to fix the problem. I’ve had around a dozen techs in my house. I’ve probably made 40+ calls… nothing seems to get the right attention. I can’t even use my router right now because, per the typical, it will shave off a few kilobytes.

Currently available for internet radio…

I am no longer DJing online. The organization www.intervisionradio.com took it as an insult when I offered to help them establish a blog and improve their currently installed forums. Personally I’m offended that they hadn’t taken me up on the offer before, since they are already somewhat popular. So, I will not be doing my normal 4-8pm slot any longer. The offer I had made to help their station is also retracted.

This should give me more time to work on other things anyway. Thanks for helping my new GTD scheme guys.

Still Broken

Fixing our database at The Luminarium is proving more difficult than anticipated. If you think you can help with our mysql issue, let me know.

Long days ahead…

I’ve had it pretty easy, getting off of work pretty early, if you want to call it work. I’m not saying I don’t deserve it. Iraq really for lack of a better word, sucked. I’m not comparing myself to other soldiers either. Many deserve a break much more than I do, but I’ll take what I can get.

I’m in the middle of a study comparing Microsoft Expression Web 2 to Adobe Dreamweaver CS4. Of course I’m using trial versions, but as trial versions, the comparison will play a major role. I can’t actually afford to pay for the full version, so I’ll make due. Either way, the information will be useful to anyone wanting to understand  the difference, and to make an educated decision.

There is an ever evolving world of technology out there, and it’s hard to be broad-minded and not waste an incredible amount of time being completely unproductive. Be that as it may, I’m going to be narrowing the scope in which I am involved in the World Wide Web just a tad. This will allow me to post more useful information about topics in a specific field, instead of the limitless scope in which I’ve been delved in for the last few years.

If that doesn’t make sense to you at all, don’t worry. It’s not entirely pertinant. I just won’t be participating in the super-social community as much.

Technical problems

I talked to technical support for about an hour and 1/2 got nowhere. They told me it have to spend about $400 to fix a single screen.   I don’t know why I would spend that much between two computers when I can spend the same amount and buy a new computer. So tomorrow I’m going to talk to the military side and see if they can get me a better deal.

Hopefully I can get most of this fixed without spending too much.

Oh!  I almost forgot to tell you I’m using Microsoft Vista’s voice recognition to fill out this blog post.

A New Approach Towards Life

I figured an proper introduction is necessary to allow you to better understand where I come from and why I do what I do. Let me begin.

My name is David Bixler. My Mother has spent the last 20 years travelling, and helping people. She calls herself a medical missionary. I have endured several family adaptations which have resulted in a somewhat scatter-brained approach towards life. Due to this scatter-brained demeanor, I have forced myself into a perfectionist state over the years. Recently I have overcome this unproductive phobia of imperfection and have grown occustomed to some of the principle GTD (Getting Things Done) fundamentals. With this newfound and growing interest in productivity vs. perfectionism, it’s important to limit myself on how far I take things on a day-to-day basis.

Taking things easy, without cutting corners. That doesn’t quite explain it does it? Think about this. You can over-do any project. It’s much better to give yourself or your client a working product that performs its functions, versus trying to include every conceivable function and pushing back your deadline or burning yourself out altogether and never finishing. This can be said of many companies and frreelancers out there. Henceforth it is my intent to produce useful and organized information in a simple and attractive manner, instead of the sophisticated and over-informative trend that is sweeping the global workforces and internet today.

I failed to find a proper New Years resolution, and this is mine. I will continue this post after assembling some visual concepts and products.

Laney’s new coat.

She picked this out. I think we got a shopper on our hands.
